HOW I Colour Code my Handwriting
DATELINE: BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA
G’day
Last week I implored you to colour code your diary / calendar / schedule.
This week I want to encourage you to go one step further: and colour code all of your notes, whether they’re handwritten or punched into an iPad, Tablet, Laptop etc.
Add a third dimension to your record keeping.
1. Blackboard Fridays Episode #43 – How and Why to Colour Code Your Notes
I ended 2023 with a rush of brand new coaching clients, and one thing that draws a lot of attention in my sales and onboarding process is the colour coding system I use when taking notes.
This is something I first wrote about way back in 2007, early in my business coaching career. While it takes a little practice, so valuable is this approach that I’m still applying it a generation later.
Once you start using colours with specific meanings to record your notes – for example, being able to scan notes rapidly for action items because they’re all in Red – you won’t ever be able to return to the world of blue and black biros, endless pages that all look alike.
Your exact system may vary – for example, you might want to reserve some of the colours to represent different business lines. If you’re looking for a place to start – or just gain a better understanding of how and why I use colour the way I do – then please enjoy this week’s Episode.
With love,
