First Australian Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame Nominee

Brisbane speaker Jacob Aldridge has become the first Australian nominated to the Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame.

Jacob Aldridge Speaker on the Economy

At an event last week, run remotely, Mr Aldridge was nominated in recognition of his work delivering speeches and workshops online since 2010 and especially in response to the Covid Pandemic.

“Lockdowns forced businesses worldwide to work remotely for the first time, and many turned to experienced virtual speakers like myself to help them rapidly adapt,” Mr Aldridge said.

In addition to training companies on the challenges from remote work, Mr Aldridge launched a weekly public presentation titled “Don’t Waste a Good Recession”.

Since March 2020, “Don’t Waste a Good Recession” has provided positive and practical guidance for business owners from two to 500 employees.

“Over the past two years there have been many lessons business owners can learn from their international peers, and of course running these events globally and remotely is now seen as best practice,” Mr Aldridge said.

At the nomination event Mr Aldridge was invited to deliver a short showcase of his work, and selected this economic theme due to its timeliness and global applicability.

His positive message focused on the opportunities created in an economic downturn, and how business owners can practically respond.

Mr Aldridge’s showcase presentation is embedded below [8 minutes], and can also be seen on the Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame website.

Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame

The Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame was created in 2020 as an industry response to the pandemic, helping conference organisers and event planners identify experienced remote speakers from around the world.

Of the 59 professional speakers nominated since 2020, only two have been from outside the United States.

Twelve people have so far been inducted into the Hall of Fame, with another five expected to be named at the end of 2022. This is the list Mr Aldridge is hoping to make.

“Of course it’s an honour to be nominated. It would be even more amazing to be the first Australian inducted to the Hall of Fame,” Mr Aldridge said.

The Hall of Fame is managed by Cigar Peg, a philanthropic organisation from California that is also the largest donor to the National Speakers Association (USA) charitable foundation.

Cigar Peg President Ed Rigsbee said, “Jacob has worked with companies and leaders around the USA, as well as the United Kingdom, Asia-Pacific, and yes – Australia.

“It’s really interesting to get an international perspective on how the US can do business.”
